This photo is of times new square in New York. There is lots of people walking around, showing how busy New York is. We can see lots of lights, traffic and people, The piece represents, in my opinion, the traffic of life and how busy things can get for people. The photograph has no name and is just part of a gallery of New York photos. The photo is only slightly realistic because of the heavy filters placed on by the edit. The photo is landscape. This piece has no name so the title doesn't effect how we view the image. The photo has been distorted in the edit so its exaggerated to make the street look fuller. The theme of the photo is cities,we can tell this because the otherphotos in the portfolio have similar themes.
There is no leading lines in this photo. The photo has lots of depth to it, its got foreground and background. The shot is framed landscape. I believe a tripod was used because the photo is very straight, we can tell a tripod was used because the human hand can't keep the camera straight enough for a slow shutter speed like used in this photo. I think a slow shutter speed was used to get the effect on the photo. Im unsure what other camera settings were used.
I personally like the work, its a creative use of camera settings to get the desired effect. I dislike the overwhelming nature of the photo, theres alot going on that takes away from the overall feel of the photo. The photo has alot of strengths, especially when in combonation with the rest of the gallery the photo is from. The effect has a very positive influence on the photo. This technique becomes weak when used on shots without much light, light is needed to create the effect. This photo links to my photography though theme of places and spaces. In future shoots I can use this long exposure technique to add character to my photography. In the future I will need to focus on my techniques and camera settings, this will improve my overall experience as a photographer.
Architechture moodboard
The photographer I plan to recreate the works of is Thomas struth. He is a German photographer, born on the 11th of october 1954. His most famous work is museum photographs. Struth produced some family portraits in the mid 1980s. He started musuem photographs in 1989. In 2005 he did closeups in St Petersburg. Usually Struth works in editions of 10 prints. I chose Thomas Struth because of the atmosphere in his photos, they all seem weird, slightly off and make the viewer think about the photos, a quality I want in my skills as a photographer.
